Grant Writer

(Job posting also listed on Freelancer)

Breech Without Borders is searching for a skilled, experienced part-time grant writer to help us secure foundation grants. The primary focus of these grants will be securing funding for our education and training programs. Some of our projects include funding vaginal breech training programs around the world; others will be to support a Train the Trainer initiative to train future instructors who can teach vaginal breech skills to other midwives and physicians. Other projects involve securing funding to pay for translating our training materials (books, online courses, training booklets, videos, etc) into other languages to increase our international reach.

Ideal Skills:

  • Expert grant writing proficiency, especially with foundation grants
  • Knowledge of the rules and norms for grant writing, budgeting, and administration
  • Understanding of the maternal-child health field, specifically childbirth and maternity care
  • Experience in securing education & training and healthcare services grants

Additional skills (not required but preferred)

  • Experience as an administrator for successfully awarded grants (tracking spending, ensuring compliance, writing reports, etc.)

We have detailed materials and data to support our grant applications, so your role will primarily be crafting compelling proposals to help us secure the funding we need to continue our vital work. We also have an extensive database of private charitable foundations to help our grant writer hit the ground running. You will need to be highly organized as you will likely be applying for multiple projects at the same time.

BWB has a strong history of receiving unsolicited and unrestricted grants from private charitable foundations, which will make future grant applications more likely to succeed.

On top of the negotiated hourly wage, we will also pay a bonus for projects that are awarded funding (note: these bonus funds will not come out of any grant monies and will be entirely self-funded from existing organizational reserve funds).

How to apply:

Send the following to info@breechwithoutborders.org:

  • A cover letter detailing your experience in grant writing, including a summary of all grants succesfully awarded for which you were the grant writer. Please also explain why and how you would be a good candidate as a grant writer for a small maternal-child health nonprofit, including your specific knowledge about breech-related topics. If applicable, please also include any relevant experience in administering grants.
  • Current resume/CV
  • Educational background and any additional relevant certifications/qualifications
  • Headshot
  • A proposed hourly wage commensurate with your experience level, educational background, and history of successfully awarded grants

Deadline: This job will have a rolling deadline until it is filled. We will begin considering applications on February 23, 2025
