Parent informed consent course
BWB would like to create a free informed decision-making course for parents who have a baby with a breech presentation. We are inviting feedback from all stakeholders: parents, doctors, midwives, and allied maternity care professionals such as nurses, doulas, childbirth educators, and more. We will be holding a series of planning meetings, the first of which took place on Dec 3 (recording viewable here.) Upcoming meetings will be announced in our newsletter and social media channels.
Please fill out this short survey. It will help us design a course that fits the needs of parents expecting breech babies: https://forms.gle/wbqLc7DjMEyCcwUdA
This course would be for parents planning births in any possible location (home, hospital, freestanding birth center) and with a range of attendants, from midwives to family practice (GP) doctors to obstetricians and MFMs.
We envision this course as the first step in the informed decision-making process. When the breech presentation is discovered, especially if the woman is at or near term, providers would ideally send parents to this course. Then, after completion, parents would meet with their provider to discuss options and chart a path forward.
